Welcome to Northeast LA

A sun-soaked and trendy slice of Los Angeles urban life

Once known as a sleepy enclave north of bustling Los Angeles, the Northeast LA area has experienced a tremendous boost in popularity over the past few years. With plenty of options for gorgeous single-family homes, some fantastic career opportunities, lots of spectacular restaurants to try, and awesome sights to see, Northeast LA has so much to offer. From comfortable suburbs like Glendale and Burbank to trendy hotspots like Silverlake and Echo Park, this area of California’s most sprawling city is the perfect place to call home.

Highland Park is known as a foodie haven, with tasty vegetarian eateries like Kitchen Mouse, cozy contemporary American restaurant Hippo, and delicious Texas-inspired spot HomeState, which serves up tacos and queso in a rustic cafe setting. In nearby Echo Park, fabulous restaurants dot either side of Sunset Boulevard, including the new American favorite Ostrich Farm and casual lunchtime cafe Beacon. You can expect to find the most hipster-friendly hangouts in Silverlake; there’s Forage, a Californian eatery with an innovative seasonal menu, trendy New American wine bar Eszett, and countless fun coffee shops, hip bars, and interesting fine dining restaurants. For the quintessential retro California experience, stop by Bob’s Big Boy, the iconic 1950s-style diner that offers a fun classic car night on Fridays.

Northeast LA is packed with incredible things to see and do. Some of your favorite television shows likely film in the Burbank area; TV lovers will have the time of their lives on the famous Warner Brothers Studio Tour, a tram tour that allows you to visit some iconic sets. Burbank is also home to Hollywood Burbank Airport, which doubles as a historic site and a convenient option if you don’t want to make the trek to LAX. Catch a game at Dodger Stadium or visit the animals at the Los Angeles Zoo. Take in a concert at the historic Greek Theater, and while you’re in the area, pay a visit to the breathtaking Griffith Observatory. Of course, the famous Hollywood Sign is always worth a visit; although you can’t walk right up to the sign, there are plenty of observation points that will allow you to get some excellent photos.

This area is home to some fantastic schools, including California Distinguished Schools like Luther Burbank Middle School (Burbank) and Crescenta Valley High School (Glendale). Excellent private school options include Kids’ World School, a K-12 school in Silverlake, and the American University Preparatory School located in downtown LA.
